Six Steps to Planning Your Wedding with Us.

Step 1: Contact our Wedding Team

Complete the initial enquiry form and one of our team will get back to you to arrange a time for you to meet the Vicar.

Step 2: Banns of Marriage

Banns of Marriage are an ancient yet still legal requirement where the Vicar declares to the congregation in the church your intention to marry. They also provide an opportunity for anyone to come forward with a reason why it may not be lawful for the marriage to take place. Banns are read in the church you are getting married in as well as the parish church where you live (if not in the same parish). We would love you to come to the church for the reading of your banns if you can. All the congregation will be praying for you. It’s a special moment for you to enjoy as part of your preparation.

Step 3: Planning the ceremony

About three months before the Big Day, the vicar will contact you to arrange a meeting to plan the details of your wedding ceremony. Although there are certain things that are ‘set in stone’ - there’s no need to write your own vows, for example - there are many other ways you can ‘personalise’ your service. have a look here for some ideas. After this meeting, you will get one final invoice on the cost of your wedding.

Step 4: Marriage Rehearsal

A few days before your wedding day you can rehearse in the church all that is going to happen with everyone who will be involved.

Step 5: Your Wedding Day

Your wedding co-ordinator and the Vicar will do everything they can to make your wedding day service all you ever dreamed it would be for both of you and your guests. It will be a personal and spiritual experience you will remember for the rest of your life.

Step 5: After the Wedding

One of the lasting experiences to having your wedding in Oxon Parish Church is that we will always be there for you down through the years. Many couples enjoy returning to the church each year on their wedding anniversary to receive prayers from the Vicar and remember the thrills and excitement of their wedding day. You may wish to do the same.

Music For Your Wedding

In early 2017 Oxon Church installed a new Makin Organ. It is incredibly powerful and capable of bringing an exceedingly rewarding range of feeling to a broad range of music. Our organist, John Bowen, will be delighted to advise you on the issue of music you may wish to choose. He plays at the earlier morning service and is often available afterwards to speak with you, or contact him by email

To give you a few ideas of music for your special day have a look at the Classic FM Wedding music.
