Thinking about Baptism?
It’s the beginning of a wonderful journey …
Oxon Parish Church is a place where children and young people are welcome every week, and we love helping parents think through what baptism and being part of God’s family is all about.
In baptism, we are reminded of God’s great love for us and how He invites us to be part of His amazing family, the Church.
It’s not just babies who can be baptised. Many people get baptised as adults too. Perhaps this is something you’d like to think about for yourself. You can contact the vicar here to talk about it.
In baptism, we make some big promises on behalf our our child - to bring them up in the Christian faith, to give them opportunities to be part of God’s church and to pray for them. As a church we want to help you fulfil these promises which is why it’s important that families attend church services and baptism preparation classes before the little one is baptised. If those promises feel a bit too much then we can talk about a Thanksgiving Service instead. The Vicar will talk to you about that when you get in touch.
If you are interested in discussing baptism for your child, please complete the enquiry form below and we will get back to you with a time to meet the vicar for a chat.

We will contact you to book a time to meet the vicar
If you and the vicar decide baptism or thanksgiving is right for you and your little one then we will look at a date for the service (usually the second Sunday in the month) book a date for you to attend a baptism preparation session and work out 3 times (or more) when you can come and be part of a church service or activity before that date.
Our baptism co-ordinator will keep in touch with you throughout.
